The Bangaru Telangana anthem is a tribute to the culture of the state, its heritage, resilience and the values people hold, and its ability to bounce back from every problem. It is an ode to celebrate the indomitable spirit of Telangana and its people demonstrating the undying spirit of the land.

The anthem features some of the most prominent people from the state from all walks of life and great landmarks that people of the state are proud of, serving as a reminder of the wonderful place that we live in and that whatever is happening is momentary. The anthem was officially launched on September 27 by Pullela Gopichand, National Coach, Indian Badminton Team, as he added, “I am very proud and happy to launch the anthem. It is a tribute to the people of Telangana who have a golden heart.”

The Bangaru Telangana Anthem presented by Freedom Healthy Cooking Oils is an initiative of the Times of India Group, who are committed to recognizing the efforts of warriors fighting against the deadly pandemic. Speaking of the inspiration for the anthem, P Chandrashekhara Reddy, Vice President Sales & Marketing, Freedom Healthy Cooking Oils says, “The Bangaru Telangana anthem is a tribute to all the people in the forefront of the battle against the coronavirus and also the people at home who have supported the lockdown. We are extremely delighted to be a part of this initiative and support it wholeheartedly.”

The anthem has been sung by Swaraag Keerthan and Harini Ivuturi. Elaborating on the music, Achu Rajamani adds, “Every state has their own style of making music; their authenticity. I had to unlearn a lot of cinema music that I do to put in little elements that come to music making for this kind of subject. It was not challenging but rather interesting. The process itself was very exciting. It was a very simple track and to the point; making sure we had the accent of Telangana and of course, the flavour. It is backed by wonderful lyrics by Sreeram gaaru.”

The inspiring lyrics penned by acclaimed lyricist Tapaswi Sreeram entail the spirit of the state. The lyrics are beautifully complemented by the famous music director and composer Achu Rajamani’s music. “When the idea was pitched to me, I was pumped. I wanted to do my bit to make it more positive, because positivity is what we crave for during difficulties, such as the current pandemic,” says Achu Rajamani, while Tapaswi Sreeram adds, “I gathered a lot of information about Telangana’s culture and traditions. Not many youngsters today know or realise the greatness of the state. The greatness should stand as an inspiration and it should further motivate them to achieve whatever they wish to. That was the idea behind the lyrics.”

Prominent personalities who feature in the anthem include Mohammed Azharuddin, former India cricket team captain; Anjani Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad; Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Industry & Commerce, IT, Principal Secretary, Telangana; Swati Lakra, ADGP, Women Safety, She Teams, Telangana; Sree Vishnu, actor; Pradeep Chowdhry, Managing Director, Gemini Edibles & Fats India Pvt Ltd; Chandrasekhara Reddy, Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Freedom Healthy Cooking Oils; Nikhat Zareen, Indian Boxer, Jr World Boxing Champion and a lot of frontline warriors who are keeping the city healthy and safe.
